Overview
Oevaali Art Shop is seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to lead and manage all aspects of our art gallery operations in Singapore while being based in the Maldives. This role is pivotal in sourcing, curating, and representing Maldivian artists, ensuring their works gain exposure in the Singaporean and international art markets. The Head of Gallery & Artist Relations will oversee gallery exhibitions, sales processes, logistics, and marketing while building strong relationships with artists, collectors, and corporate clients.

Key Responsibilities
1. Sourcing & Curating Maldivian Art

• Identify and source emerging and established Maldivian artists for gallery representation.
• Develop curated exhibitions showcasing Maldivian heritage, culture, and contemporary art.
• Maintain strong relationships with artists, ensuring fair representation and ethical agreements.
• Oversee the selection and procurement process of artworks for the gallery.

2. Managing Gallery Representation for Maldivian Artists

• Act as a liaison between artists and the Singapore gallery, ensuring proper representation.
• Negotiate and manage artist agreements, ensuring compliance and fair financial terms.
• Advocate for artists in international spaces, securing media features and collaborations.
• Identify additional exposure opportunities such as art fairs, exhibitions, and industry partnerships.

3. Gallery Operations & Sales Management

• Oversee the entire sales process, ensuring seamless execution from storytelling to transaction.
• Ensure that each artwork is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
• Train Singapore-based gallery and retail staff on the history, significance, and best-selling approaches for each collection.
• Develop and execute strategies for art pricing, sales commission structures, and collector engagement.

4. Exhibition Planning & Management

• Plan and execute rotating exhibitions, maintaining fresh and engaging displays.
• Develop exhibition themes, storytelling approaches, and display techniques aligned with Oevaali Art Shop’s brand.
• Organize exhibition openings, private previews, and artist showcases to attract collectors and buyers.
• Track exhibition performance, visitor engagement, and sales trends to refine future curation strategies.

5. Marketing & Artist Promotion

• Develop and execute marketing strategies to promote the gallery and Maldivian artists in Singapore.
• Work closely with the marketing team to create compelling press and digital content.
• Organize VIP events, artist talks, and private previews to introduce Maldivian artists to Singaporean audiences.
• Establish and maintain relationships with art collectors, curators, media, and institutions to expand artist visibility.

6. Logistics & Art Handling

• Coordinate the safe transportation of artworks from the Maldives to Singapore, ensuring proper packaging and care.
• Manage inventory records, artwork documentation, and condition reports.
• Oversee the proper framing, mounting, and display of artworks in the gallery space.

7. Compliance & Financial Oversight

• Handle contracts, compliance, and payments related to artist agreements and gallery operations.
• Manage financial transactions related to artwork sales, artist payouts, and sales commissions.
• Ensure all financial dealings align with Singaporean and Maldivian regulations for international trade.

8. Collector & Corporate Sales Expansion

• Identify and engage high-net-worth collectors, art investors, and corporate buyers.
• Develop customized art proposals for corporate clients (hotels, luxury businesses, interior designers).
• Build a network of repeat buyers and create an exclusive collector engagement strategy (limited previews, early access).

9. Customer Experience & Sales Training

• Train retail and gallery staff in Singapore to ensure they can confidently explain and sell artworks.
• Create a sales guide outlining effective approaches for selling art, from storytelling techniques to handling objections.
• Set up a structured feedback and improvement system for gallery staff, ensuring high-quality customer engagement.

10. Budgeting & Cost Management

• Work closely with Oevaali Art Shop’s leadership to budget for exhibitions, marketing, and logistics.
• Ensure cost-effective transportation of artworks between the Maldives and Singapore.
• Optimize gallery expenses without compromising on quality and artist representation.

Qualifications & Skills
Education: Degree in Fine Arts, Art Management, Business, or a related field (preferred but not required).
Experience: Minimum 3–5 years in gallery management, artist representation, or curatorial roles.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of art, contemporary trends, and international gallery operations.
Skills:
Curatorial expertise and artist sourcing skills.
Strong negotiation and contract management experience.
Marketing and PR knowledge for artist promotion.
Sales strategy and collector engagement experience.
Logistics and art handling expertise for safe transportation and display.
Ability to train staff and educate collectors on Maldivian art.
