The Opportunity: Lead Australian Tax & Accounts from Sri Lanka

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager of Accounts Finalization and Australian Taxation to join a premier international accounting firm with global operations spanning the UK, Australia, India, and Ireland.

This is a critical, fully remote leadership role based in Sri Lanka, offering a fantastic opportunity to manage complex client portfolios focused on Australian compliance and strategic planning. The successful candidate will navigate the intricacies of Australian tax law while driving excellence in accounts finalization.

 

Key Responsibilities (Leadership & Expert Focus)
You will serve as a senior specialist, providing technical expertise and leadership across core Australian accounting functions:

➤ Expert Tax Advisory: Provide comprehensive, high-level tax advice on complex matters including Corporate Tax, International Tax, GST, and Personal Tax. Interpret and rigorously apply Australian tax legislation to complex client scenarios.

➤ Accounts Finalization & Review: Oversee the preparation and final review of client accounts and tax returns, ensuring accuracy and full compliance with Australian laws and regulations.

➤ Tax Planning & Strategy: Develop and implement advanced tax-efficient structures and strategies to optimize tax liabilities for clients. Advise on tax implications of major transactions (M&A, restructuring).

➤ Audit & ATO Representation: Assist clients in managing ATO audits, inquiries, and dispute resolution processes.

➤ Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, trusted advisory relationships with Australian clients, proactively identifying opportunities and managing risks.

➤ Mentoring & Training: Supervise, mentor, and lead the technical development of junior staff. Conduct internal training sessions on various Australian tax and compliance topics.

 

Mandatory Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in Australian taxation, preferably gained in a senior or supervisory role.

Certification: Possession of mandatory professional qualifications such as CPA, CA, or a legal practicing certificate.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Law, or a related field. (A Master’s degree is preferred).

Technical Acumen: Strong, practical understanding of Australian tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements is essential.

Soft Skills: Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex tax concepts to clients and team members.

 

Training & Onboarding
The selected candidate will participate in a mandatory, fully sponsored 1-2 month training program in India. All costs, including airfare, accommodation, and travel allowances, will be covered by the client. This initial period is vital for deep integration with the firm’s systems and international teams.
