Overview
JOB PURPOSE
Produce audio visual content for digital media to enhance MSF South Asia’s storytelling, engage audiences and inform the public. The incumbent will be responsible for suggesting innovative communications formats that will introduce MSF messages in manner most engaging for the audience. Visualize through graphic design and produce engaging communication material for external and internal audiences including advertisements, event branding, handbooks, fliers, brochures, infographics, interactive graphics and motion graphics.
AV production and design (digital and offline)
- Highlight opportunities for creation of AV and design products that advance MSF South Asia strategic communications priorities, based on MSF global communications or MSF project work
- Shoot, edit and deliver audiovisual material into a variety of deliverables intended for broadcast, web, social media outlets, and MSF internal use.
- Compile, repurpose and edit AV material collected in MSF different projects to cater to MSF South Asia channels and audience, to enhance the delivery of and audience engagement with MSF messages.
- Suggest innovative data visualization and AV tools and formats according to latest digital trends to better render MSF brand and messages.
- Develop creative concepts, storyboards and design frameworks to provide effective creative value additions in multiple platforms to MSF’s communications campaigns and projects.
- Produces graphics – including infographics, interactive graphics and motion graphics – to accompany MSF South Asia reports, articles, videos, social media posts, multimedia presentations, and other offerings from the Communications department.
- Creatively conceptualize, product and supervise installation/delivery of MSF branding in different external interfaces including events and key stakeholder interactions, to support different departments of MSF.
- Works to establish a unified visual style for MSF South Asia content across platforms, and to develop distinctive graphics for campaigns, reports and special projects, including the production and updating of branding templates.
- Coordinates with Events, Press, Fundraising, Digital and HR to assist them in their work and act as a liaison with design consultants and other vendors when required.
Process and quality control
- Ensure all audio visual and graphic products are in line with ethical humanitarian imagery guidelines and MSF DEI policies
- Ensure collection and storage of proper consent forms for AV material that represent patients or staff of MSF, or participants in MSF bilateral or public interactions
- Under the supervision of the Creative Content Coordinator, engages with project leads from all departments to determine the scope of a project and elaborate a brief
- Present the first drafts of creative products, and ensures texts involved in design and AV products is seamlessly correct and engaging
- Incorporate changes recommended by projects leads or any internal project stakeholders into the final design
- Interact with external vendors including outsource editors, print houses, and advertisers to ensure delivery and installation of quality creative material for MSF branding and messaging
Management and departmental administration
- Participates in planning and implementation of MSF South Asia’s communications strategies, policies and procedures
- Carries out any duties that may reasonably be required by the Creative Content Coordinator
- Monitors field activities to appropriately represent MSF in communications materials, via reading MSF reports and updates, regular attendance of office presentations, program briefings, and more
- Adherence to Data Protection Policy
Key Interactions
- Works closely with all members of the Communications team (in particular with Digital Manager and Creative Content Coordinator as well as departments of Fundraising, Programs, HR and the Association.
- Collaborates with MSF operations and project teams in the south Asia region to provide design support
- Collaborates with and supports other MSF entities around the world.
Requirements
Educational Qualifications & Functional / Technical Skills
Graduation Degree in Graphic design, filmmaking, mass media or equivalent field from a reputed institute and/or a combination of relevant professional experiences in line with the responsibilities listed in this job description.
Relevant Experience (Type of experience and minimum number of years)
Minimum 2-4 years of experience working as an audio visual and graphic designer
Other requirements (Behavioural, Language, Certifications etc, including competencies)
- Excellent knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Adobe Premiere, and other illustration, animation, editing software and tools. A good and sound understanding of printing materials
- Experience with a UI/UX design, and animations is a plus
- Understanding of and experience in corporate branding, layout, color theory and typography in both print and digital media
- Strong conceptual skills and a high-level sense of design, layout and typography, and brand aesthetics
- Very good English language skills, and excellent ability to write and edit concise texts for creative products
- Previous experience in managing outsourced agencies, art services, printers, etc
- Familiarity with humanitarian and/or NGO work dynamics
- Outstanding proven time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize ongoing vs. immediate needs appropriately.
- Service orientation and ability to work collaboratively and deliver colleague needs
- Flexibility and ability to work under very tight deadlines and handle several projects at the same time
- A detail oriented, highly organized, and resourceful personality
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of social media and digital platforms and trends
- Willingness to travel within and outside South Asia.

- Compensation gross per month range LKR 337556 to LKR 403060 (final salary will depend on the scaling of the CV as per MSF criteria). 13th Month bonus (equivalent to one month gross) will be additional.
