JOB PURPOSE

Produce digital communication material in line with the editorial guidelines, increase awareness about MSF using social media and MSF India and South Asia website, and engage with the relevant audience, supporters, and other stakeholders.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Content for MSF websites and other digital properties

  • Curates, edits and publishes content on MSF websites ensuring that the content is in line with MSF India editorial guidelines.
  • Adapts the content to contribute to the Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) strategy
  • Sources, selects and edits and publishes images from MSF projects around the world for online us
  • Updates content on other digital properties to support other departments and SARA Association

Generate content for MSF India/South Asia Social Media platforms and engage the supporters

  • Contributes to the development of the MSF social media strategy
  • Produces daily content on MSF social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, etc.)
    Develops digital creative products (also interactive), both in-house or by managing third parties, to strengthen MSF’s visibility (E.g. Infographics, Reels Thinglink, memes, etc.)
    Develops and produce social media campaigns to fulfil recruitment, fundraising, awareness and/or advocacy objectives.
  • Perform social media social media community management duties with supporters and interested parties, ensuring MSF’s values and reputation is upheld including managing difficult social media conversations.
    Identifies and develops relationships with social media “influencers”
  • Contributes to the growth of social media networks and audiences in collaboration with other members of the Digital Cell
  • Plays a key role in responding to “social media emergencies” or controversies in collaboration with the Head of communications.
    Ensures the daily monitoring of social media activity
  • Creates social media strategy and provide support for MSF Scientific Days – Asia along with the Digital Manager

Other digital communications

  • Produces monthly e-newsletter for MSF India’s donors, subscribers and supporters. This will include collecting content,
    writing and editing articles, selecting photos, liaising with the designer, and seeing content through the approval process.
    Providing support to the Media Team for briefing and debriefing of MSF India expats
  • Provide live social media coverage during MSF events
  • Collect digital communications material if required through visits to the projects or through interviews with MSF staff

Planning, organizing and monitoring

  • Preparing a weekly content calendar for MSF social media platforms
  • Supports MSF SA association, HR, Fundraising, Access Campaign and MSF South Asia Operations teams for generating and disseminating digital communication material
  • Analyses the performance of social media accounts and digital campaigns and share relevant insights on their performance, and opportunities for improvement. Works closely with digital hosting agencies and monitors their work to ensure the desired results are achieved

Management and administration

  • Attends regularly scheduled departmental and inter-departmental meetings to share information, brainstorm solutions, and coordinate priorities.
  • Participates in planning and implementation of MSF-South Asia’s communications strategies, policies and procedures.
  • Carries out any duties that may reasonably be required by the Digital Manager and/or Head of communications in the light of the main purpose of the job.
  • Attends regularly scheduled staff meetings, in-office presentations/debates to stay informed on important MSF topics.
  • Provides regular written updates on activities and outputs as part of a wider communications reporting structure.
  • Create a platform for regular communication with counterparts in South Asia
  • Collaborates with digital counterparts in other offices across the globe to share best practices

Requirements
Educational Qualifications  & Functional / Technical Skills

Graduation Degree in Journalism, English, Mass Communications or equivalent field from a reputed institute and/or a combination of relevant professional experiences in line with the responsibilities listed in this job description

Relevant Experience

Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in communications including managing digital content, social media platforms and website management preferably with an NGO.

Other requirements

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms (Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, Instagram etc.) and ability to write engaging posts and Tweets
  • Excellent understanding of digital communications dynamics and recent trends, and ways for better engagement of digital audience
  • Excellent knowledge of English writing, editing and proof reading skills, especially for the web
  • Familiarity with humanitarian and/or NGO work dynamics
  • Ability to understand the insights from social media
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively in a dynamic but complex organisation
  • Capacity to take initiatives and seize opportunities
  • Flexibility and ability to work under very tight deadlines
  • Proven ability to manage projects independently
  • Knowledge of video/photo editing software would be an advantage

  • Contract duration is one year with a possibility of contract period extension.

  • Compensation gross per month range LKR 456628 to LKR 545238 (final salary will depend on the scaling of the CV as per MSF criteria). 13th Month bonus (equivalent to one month gross) will be additional.
