TACTIK is a Melbourne-based digital agency working with clients across legal, finance, automotive, health, and e-commerce sectors. We build modern, custom websites — not template builds, not page-builder work. Every project is hand-coded.

We’re hiring a Creative Developer to join our Melbourne team on a fully remote basis from Sri Lanka. You’ll lead the front-end build on our custom web projects, work directly with our UI/UX designer, and ship work we’re proud of.

The Role
This is a hands-on development role focused on production builds. You’ll take Figma designs and turn them into clean, performant, accessible front-end code using Next.js and modern React. We expect taste — easing curves, micro-interactions, and the small details that separate good builds from great ones.

You’ll work closely with our designer from concept stage, advising on what’s feasible within project budgets and pushing back when something will eat too much time for too little return. Pragmatism matters.

What You’ll Do
Core Development
•     Build production websites using Next.js (App Router, SSR/ISR, image optimisation)

•     Translate Figma designs into pixel-perfect, responsive front-end code

•     Implement animations using Motion (formerly Framer Motion) or GSAP — scroll-driven sequences, page transitions, micro-interactions

•     Write clean, maintainable TypeScript and React

•     Style with Tailwind CSS using a consistent token-based approach

•     Integrate headless CMS solutions (Sanity, Storyblok, or WordPress as headless) so clients can manage content

•     Build accessible, semantic HTML — WCAG 2.2 AA is our baseline for legal, finance, and health clients

Performance & Quality
•     Optimise for Core Web Vitals — LCP, CLS, INP — with image optimisation, lazy loading, and bundle hygiene

•     Test across browsers and devices — not just “it works on my machine”

•     Set up staging environments, manage deployments, and handle basic DNS/SSL

•     Run pre-launch QA against the Figma file and surface discrepancies

Collaboration
•     Partner with the UI/UX designer from concept stage — advise on what’s feasible, flag scope risks early

•     Communicate clearly with project managers and the Melbourne team via Slack and async tools

•     Write commit messages and PR descriptions that someone else can actually understand

•     Help mentor any junior developers we bring on later

What We’re Looking For
•     3+ years building production websites with React and Next.js

•     Strong TypeScript fundamentals

•     Proficient with Tailwind CSS — utility-first, not fighting it

•     Working knowledge of Motion (Framer Motion) and/or GSAP for animation — you don’t need to be a wizard, but you understand timing and easing

•     Headless CMS experience (Sanity, Storyblok, Contentful, or WordPress as headless)

•     A portfolio of shipped, custom-built sites — not WordPress themes or page-builder work

•     Eye for detail — you notice when an animation is 50ms too slow or a spacing value is off

•     Strong written and spoken English — daily communication with the Melbourne team

•     Experience with offshore or international clients — comfortable with async work and time zone overlap

•     Pragmatic — you can deliver 80% of the creative vision in 50% of the time when the budget demands it

Bonus Skills
•     Advanced GSAP — ScrollTrigger, ScrollSmoother, Flip, MorphSVG

•     Three.js or React Three Fiber experience

•     Lenis or Locomotive Scroll

•     Lottie integration

•     Awwwards, FWA, or CSS Design Awards recognition

•     Cloudways or similar managed hosting experience — deployments, SSL, DNS, backups

•     CI/CD pipelines and Git workflow setup

•     Motion design background or strong personal design sensibility

Compensation & Setup
LKR 250,000 – 400,000 per month, depending on experience and portfolio strength. Paid monthly in LKR via international transfer. Annual review.

Fully remote from Sri Lanka. Working hours overlap with Melbourne (AEDT/AEST) — you’ll need 3–4 hours of overlap daily for live collaboration, with the rest of your day for deep work.

Long-term role, not contract work. Consistent project pipeline, clear briefs, structured feedback. Real ownership of the technical side of our builds.
