Overview

We are looking for a versatile individual to support the work of the directors and help manage a small non-profit organization. The person should have a combination of the skills mentioned below and should be willing to learn other areas. The role shall be defined based on the competencies of the best suited applicant.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Preparing financial documents such as invoices, bills, and accounts payable and receivable.
  • Managing company ledgers.
  • Coordinating internal audits.
  • Verifying balances in account books and correcting discrepancies.
  • Prepare Income & expenditure accounts for the year-end and submit them for audit.
  • Encoding accounting entries for data processing.
  • Sorting financial documents and posting them to the proper accounts.
  • Administration support to the team.
  • Preparation of Bank Reconciliation.
  • Working with Purchases.
  • Maintain accounts records & prepare monthly spreadsheet.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite & Excellent Skills with Microsoft Office
  • Experience in Balance Sheet Account Preparation
  • Detail Oriented; Organized & Timely
  • Competent IT Skills
  • Strong Bookkeeping Skills
  • Knowledge of Business Math
  • Understanding of Budgetary Principles
  • Strong Written and Oral Communication Skills

These are full time assignments and can commence immediately. Appointments are under contract with extension based on performance. Work will be in our offices in Akurana, or Digana in Kandy. The Federation for Environment, Climate, and Technology (FECT) is dedicated to developing usable social scientific, and technological data for societal well-being and environmental preservation.  FECT brings together 20 scientists whose activities cover some of the Indian Ocean Islands and its littoral. We began researching and developing of climate and environmental analysis, computation, monitoring, and prediction technologies in Sri Lanka.
