Job Summary
The Manager- Dairy Development plays a critical role in ensuring a consistent supply of high-quality milk to Pelwatte Dairy. This role involves overseeing farmer relations, implementing training programs, and managing sustainable practices to improve milk production and quality. The manager works closely with Procurement, Quality Assurance, and Operations teams to support the Pelwatte Dairy’s milk processing goals.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Planning and Execution:
Develop and implement strategic plans for dairy development, aligned with the Pelwatte objectives.
Identify and evaluate new opportunities for dairy development, expansion, and optimization of milk procurement areas
Oversee the preparation of detailed project proposals, budgets, and timelines.
Initiate strategies to promote the Pelwatte brand within the farming community, establishing it as the preferred choice among farmers.
2. Dairy Development and Quality Assurance:
Manage all milk mapping activities to identify high-potential milk collection areas ensuring squantity & quality of milk.
Ensure quality control and quality assurance processes are implemented and adhered among the farming community.
Collaborate with the Transportation team to ensure efficient milk collection
3. Farmer Engagement and Capacity Building:
Design and implement farmer training programs on advanced dairy husbandry, milk quality management, and sustainable practices.
Provide strategic direction for extension services to farmers, including animal health, fodder management, and yield improvement.
Foster strong relationships with dairy farmers, cooperatives, and other stakeholders.
Onboarding new farmers and expanding the capacity of dairy herds.
Overseeing the artificial insemination process to improve herd productivity and milk yield.
