Overview

Qualification: B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Chemistry (or equivalent)
Experience: Minimum 15 years in Cement Industry (Quality Control & Assurance)
Reporting To: Plant Head

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Quality Management & Assurance

Oversee the entire Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) functions of the cement plant.
Ensure that all raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products consistently meet quality specifications and standards (BIS, ASTM, EN, etc.).
Develop, implement, and monitor quality control procedures and test methods for raw materials, clinker, cement, and fuel.
Ensure calibration, accuracy, and maintenance of all laboratory equipment and instruments.
2. Process Optimization

Collaborate closely with Production and Process departments to maintain consistent product quality and optimize clinker and cement production parameters.
Analyze daily plant data and lab results to recommend process adjustments for efficiency and cost reduction.
Conduct periodic raw mix design and quality improvement studies.
3. Laboratory Management

Supervise chemical & physical testing (e.g., XRF, Blaine, compressive strength, etc.).
Maintain standard laboratory practices and safety protocols.
Ensure the laboratory complies with ISO/IEC 17025 or other relevant standards.
Plan and manage lab manpower, shift scheduling, and training programs.
4. Compliance & Documentation

Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory quality standards (BIS, environmental norms, etc.).
Prepare and maintain quality documentation, test reports, and audit records.
Lead internal and external audits related to product quality and certification.
5. Team Leadership & Development

Lead and mentor the QC team, promoting continuous improvement and technical excellence.
Conduct training sessions for lab chemists and technicians on testing procedures, safety, and quality standards.
Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and quality consciousness across departments.
6. Innovation & Continuous Improvement

Drive initiatives for product development, alternative materials utilization (e.g., fly ash, slag, limestone), and process innovation.
Implement modern analytical techniques and digital tools for real-time quality monitoring.
Evaluate and adopt new technologies to enhance product performance and consistency.
Key Skills & Competencies:
·        Strong knowledge of cement chemistry, clinker mineralogy, and raw mix design.

·        Proficiency in XRF, XRD, and other analytical instruments.

·        In-depth understanding of SLS standards for cement.

·        Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

·        Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional coordination abilities.
