Job Description
We are seeking a highly competent and experienced Senior Legal Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal advice and support to the organization, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and managing legal matters related to business operations. The ideal candidate should have experience in maritime, international trade, insurance, shipping, and cargo-related legal matters.
Key Responsibilities
Provide legal advice and guidance to management and relevant departments on business and operational matters.
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, legal documents, and other business-related documentation.
Handle legal matters relating to maritime, international trade, insurance, shipping, and cargo operations.
Ensure the organization’s business activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, and statutory requirements.
Liaise with external legal counsel, government authorities, regulatory bodies, and other relevant stakeholders when required.
Monitor and provide advice on changes in laws, regulations, and legal requirements that may affect the organization.
Assist in managing legal disputes, claims, litigation, and other legal proceedings.
Review and assess legal risks associated with business transactions and recommend appropriate actions to minimize potential risks.
Maintain proper records of legal documents, contracts, agreements, and ongoing legal matters.
Support internal departments in resolving legal and contractual issues in a timely and effective manner.
Perform any other legal duties and responsibilities assigned by management.
Requirements
Must be an Attorney-at-Law with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
LLB/LLM degree will be an added advantage.
Experience in maritime, international trade, insurance, shipping, and cargo-related matters.
Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
Must be computer literate with good proficiency in MS Office applications.
Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and maintain confidentiality.
